COVID-19 HR Update – DOL releases Families First Coronavirus Response Act poster & FAQs

Here is a quick update on the FFCRA and includes a workplace poster, and the posting requirements and obligations for employers. As more information comes available on the new legislation working its way through Congress I will pass it along.

DOL releases Families First Coronavirus Response Act poster & FAQs

The U.S. Department of Labor has released an employer poster about the expanded Family and Medical Leave and paid sick leave provisions of the Families First Coronavirus Response Act to be posted “in conspicuous places.” It also has released some FAQs about the posting requirements

The law takes effect on April 1, and as stated in the FAQs:
Each covered employer must post a notice (the poster) of the Families First Coronavirus Response Act (FFCRA) requirements in a conspicuous place on its premises. An employer may satisfy this requirement by emailing or direct mailing this notice to employees or posting this notice on an employee information internal or external website.

  • Covered employers include: All employers covered by the paid sick leave and expanded family and medical leave provisions of the FFCRA (i.e., certain public sector employers and private sector employers with fewer than 500 employees) are required to post this notice.

If your business operates in a state with greater protections you must comply with both federal and state law. This includes Oregon, Washington, and California sick leave, and other leaves and benefits.

If you’ve laid people off recently you don’t need to give them a copy of the notice.
