Welcome to all new subscribers and thank you for the very positive feedback and encouragement about last month's HR Update.

The economy continues to offer up a wide range of challenges for employers. Our feature article looks at the effects of rising gas prices on the workplace and discusses some ways you can help employees cope with ever-increasing commuting costs while positively impacting your retention efforts.

Whether your business is thriving or going through difficult adjustments and changes, it is critical that your HR-related practices and processes are helping you keep your business efficient and competitive.

Downsizing and restructuring can be very hard on an organization especially if it's done poorly, even with the best of intentions. Productivity and morale can suffer, rumors abound and you can end up losing the very employees you want and need to keep. If you are considering downsizing contact us to discuss how professional assistance can ease the transition and help you normalize business operations faster.

  • High gas Prices Have Arrived In The Workplace - Now What?

As gas prices continue to climb some of the resulting fallout will eventually land on employers, if it hasn't already. At a minimum, high gas prices are a workplace distraction. It's the big story right now and it hits employees directly in their paychecks where it can often hurt the most.

Employees will most likely come knocking on the boss' door looking for help coming up with solutions to the increased cost of getting to work, and asking for a pay increase or a fuel allowance may be on their list.
