OSHA POSTING REQUIREMENTS EFFECTIVE FEB. 1

On February 1st employers with ten or more employees must post the OSHA Form 300A – Summary of Work-Related Injuries and Illnesses, which summarizes an employer's recordable injuries and illness for the prior calendar year. The Form 300A must be posted each year from February 1 to April 30. An employer subject to this requirement must post the OSHA 300A even if the employer had no recordable or lost workday injuries/illnesses in the prior year. All of the information required for the OSHA 300A is taken from the OSHA Form 300. Employers do not post Form 300 since it contains confidential medical and personal information.  NEW 2006 POSTER TO COMPLY WITH USERRA

On December 19, 2005 the U.S. Department of Labor issued new regulations that revised the Uniform Services Employment and Reemployment Rights Act of 1994 (USERRA). Included were changes in the information that must be provided to employees and dependents of employees who become members of the uniformed services or are activated to provide such service. The revision requires all employers to replace the previously issued USERRA poster all employers were required to post on March 10, 2005.  NEW MINIMUM WAGES EFFECTIVE JANUARY, 1, 2006

On January 1, 2006 the minimum wage for Oregon was increased to $7.50 per hour, and to $7.63 per hour in Washington. A new minimum wage poster must be displayed in each workplace to reflect the wage increase. As the only change to the poster is the amount to the right of the decimal place on the minimum wage, if you have one of the “8 in 1” composite posters or something similar, you can simply change the state wage amount on the poster with a sticker, post-it or something suitable and legible. There are currently 17 states with a minimum wage above the federal minimum wage of $5.15 per hour, with five of them at $7.00 or more. Three U.S. cities also have their own minimum wage. At the opposite end of the wage spectrum, the minimum wage in Jakarta, Indonesia, one of the only mandated minimum wages in Asia, also increased on January 1. To see the wide range of minimum wages and download a new copy of the Oregon and Washington minimum wage posters at no cost, click Find out more.
